I met Lauren Rosen at the Central States languages conference last week, and we had an interesting conversation about the new shape of information. She mentioned a video about how we will interact with computers in the future. Lauren couldn’t find the link in her computer, but said she would e-mail it to me. It was in my phone before I arrived back in Raleigh.
Give it a look — and by the way, “Where’s the Computer?” It’s all about the information.
That is simply breathtaking! I have to show everyone at my school…well those who care anyway. THANK YOU!!
David,
I’ve shown this to my students and fellow faculty members and jaws have dropped each time. Here’s Jeff Han showcasing the interface during his TED Talk: http://ted.com/tedtalks/tedtalksplayer.cfm?key=j_han
Once again, I am amazed! Thanks for sharing. Can’t wait to show it to the kids even more than the staff! What an exciting future!
I really enjoyed Mr. Chase’s link to Jeff Han, which I hadn’t seen before. Actually, though, Jeff’s Ted talk did not demo what this perceptive pixel is showing.
This is actually even cooler, because anyone with a webcam and projector can do this cheaply! It’s called “Atlas Gloves” and the instructions and full demo video is online here: http://atlasgloves.org/demo
Enjoy!
Oops, sorry, I jumped the gun before watching the whole video. Atlas gloves aren’t the same thing–they’re another cool tool, and really cheap, for google earth, a projector, and a webcam. The Perceptive Pixel shows something different, also cool.
I would have been more impressed before watching our third graders use the SmartBoards in their classrooms (and seeing Google Earth).
Still cool – and close!
Doug
