  1. Hi David,
I sometimes wonder if the United States is becoming a third world country. We are no longer leaders in certain things, wireless access for one. I also worry about our record on human rights. I used to think that the US was also the freest place in the world, that we could say whatever we wanted, but after the last presidential election, I have changed my view on that. At a high school journalism conference last spring, one of the speakers said that he thought Bloggers were similar to the publishers of pamphlets and newspapers in the colonial days and that due to their numbers they represented a democratic voice, the voice of the people. Bloggers are the free voices that no longer exist in mainstream media, voices unencumbered by political or economic agenda. Not all Blogs are worth reading–yours is–but they’re free and anyone can create one. There is something wonderful about that idea. Now, if we could only create them and upload them from a laptop anywhere in the US–that would be something!!
