As blogging becomes more pervasive, schools have begun establishing ground rules for teachers who blog.

This article includes recommendations for blogging professional development, district policies, and revising AUPs to reflect the read/write web.  It includes quotes from Dr. Tim Tyson from Mabry Middle School, Chris Lehmann of the Science Leadership Academy, and Tom McCurdy of the Pinckney Community Schools.

  1. I am curious – since you worked so closely to the Discovery Educator Network and they featured you quite a bit on their blogs, how do you feel about the way Discovery handled their customers/teachers by cutting off the field managers without warning? Do you see the disrespect that we feel? Do you think this was a slap in the face of all educators? Since you have worked with them in the past, and many are now without a job, and you are still impartial – just curious on your thoughts.

My DEN manager is hurt and upset, but in the corporate world there is no heart and they must remain quiet. I don’t want my quetsions here to reflect them, so I am not listing my real name or email.

  2. I think that Tim Tyson’s comments are right on the money. I think that the inclusion of blogs and wikis as well as student produced work is part of being a professional educator in the 21st century.

I look forward to talking with you tonight!
