Here’s a pretty cool tool shared by Ian Jukes this morning.
Think about elementary students having something like this. It shouldn’t replace blocks and marbles, but think of the limitless manipulative possibilities available with an Assist Sketch Understanding System.

Awesome video.. I shared this with science teachers and they went crazy. How do I find out when it will be public. I have been looking everywhere for a downloadable file, but haven’t found anything. I suppose it is still in development. As we are asking our schools to increase our efforts in engineering, I see this software as a great tool for many elementary teachers. If any body has some experience with this software, know when it will be available, or knows where to find more information… I would live to hear it. rogerb@stma.k12.mn.us
Thanks
We have been using the Microsoft Physics Illustrator with the TabletPC which allows drawing of items and applying of forces and running an animation of the item. I am not sure if it is the same technology, but it seems similar.
You can find a link to it on this page:

Doesn’t that programming language, Squeak (Squeek), that Allan Kay’s been talking about do this sort of thing?
