Today is the K-12 Online Conference — for me. I’ve been asked to deliver the keynote address, but being that the conference is online and quite virtual, it doesn’t really matter when I’m delivering the address. It doesn’t really matter when you are watching, reading, or listening to it. It’s kinda weird, but I’m going to go with it. So today, I’m carrying my camera and iPod/iTalk around with me, and just talking about what ever comes to mind, regarding the changing nature of information and what it’s like to teach and learn here.
I’m still trying to figure this out, what to say, what to write, what to try to teach. I’ve never done this before. Luckily, you probably haven’t either. So we’re just making it up as we go along, and we’ll be doing that for a long time. It’s what you do in a time of rapid change.
It will be an interesting day — at least!

David….
Having just SKIPPED my first podcast week in 5 weeks, I will speak from very, very brief experience to say that we are plowing some new ground here. Your plow may be bigger than the rest of ours, but I can’t think of a better guy to do it than you. We here in Shanghai look forward to enjoying your remarks and engaging in some grand professional talk around the table together about what will be shared, spoken and shown!
Good luck! Happy Autumn Moon Festival!
Gosh, apart from the anytime. anywhere thing, this sounds like a teacher preparing for a class…
David: Having used both your “Redefining Literacy” and “Raw Materials” books as primary texts in undergrad and grad classes I’ve taught on technology integration– I think one of the strongest stories you have to tell is the importance of teachers becoming and remaining lifelong learners and collaborators. The changes in the information environment, as you so clearly communicate, should help us not only access and consume information differently but also publish and share our own ideas about that information differently. I like many others am looking forward to your latest message shared via K-12 Online, thanks so much for agreeing to do the pre-conference keynote! 🙂
